Ron McCarthy began his career developing West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta and designing entertainment/attractions within retail environments in Canada, Australia and Europe. In the late 80’s he founded FORREC, renowned designers of theme parks and bespoke attractions worldwide.

Later Ron moved to England and consulted Stadium City Developments on two regional mixed-use projects, the Meadowhall Shopping and Leisure Centre in Sheffield, UK and Centro Oberhausen in Oberhausen, Germany. This was followed by contracts advising Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal on his World Trade Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the Riady family in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In 1996, Ron was approached by TrizecHahn Europe to lead the planning and design of several shopping centres in the UK and Continental Europe. The posting had him living in London, Rome and Madrid over a six-year period. From 2013 to 2016, he was based in New Jersey advising Triple Five on their attractions at American Dream in particular, North America’s first indoor snow park -Big Snow. He also advised GICSA in Mexico City on attractions for their retail centres followed by a two-year contract advising Lune Rouge on the Major Series of Putting initiative. In early 2019 Ron launched Leaderboard Entertainment Inc.
